The Law Commission of Ontario (LCO) is pleased to announce the Raj Anand LCO Access to Justice Research Fellowship, a groundbreaking initiative to support access to justice, law reform and the next generation of justice advocates.
The Fellowship is the result of a transformative gift from the Raj Anand and Lesley Valentine-Anand Foundation and a matching grant from Osgoode Hall Law School, which together will create the recently announced $1M Osgoode Access to Justice Fund.
Raj Anand has been on the LCO Board since 2014 and Chair since 2020. In addition to his long and distinguished career as a litigator and administrative lawyer, Raj is one of Canada’s most accomplished human rights and access to justice advocates. This extremely generous gift demonstrates his commitment to access to justice, independent law reform and the legal profession.
“Raj’s gift is transformative,” says Nye Thomas, LCO Executive Director. “It will support the LCO and access to justice in Ontario for years to come.” The Raj Anand LCO Access to Justice Research Fellowship will be an annual fellowship at the LCO open to academics, lawyers or post-doctoral researchers. Fellows will undertake law reform-related research, work on LCO projects and participate in public discussions. More details about the Fellowship application process will be announced shortly.
