The Board of Governors and staff of the Law Commission of Ontario (LCO) would like to bid farewell to Raj Anand, Chair of the LCO Board since 2020 and member since 2014. Raj stepped down from the LCO Board on May 21, 2026. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
In addition to his long and distinguished career as a litigator and administrative lawyer, Raj is one of Canada\u2019s most accomplished human rights and access to justice advocates. Under Raj\u2019s leadership, the LCO has grown in profile and impact, becoming a Canadian leader on issues such as AI and human rights. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The LCO is also pleased to announce Neha Chugh as the new Chair of the LCO Board, effective May 22, 2026. Neha Chugh joined the LCO Board in 2021. Neha has been practicing criminal defence in Eastern Ontario since 2011. Among her many accomplishments, Neha is a Law Society Bencher, is\u00a0a prosecutor at the Akwesasne Mohawk Court, serves on many boards, and has received several awards, including the Advocates\u2019 Society\u2019s Catzman Award for Professionalism and Civility.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
