As Executive Director of the LCO, Nye is responsible for producing independent, balanced, and authoritative advice on complex and important law reform issues. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nye has been leading projects in Ontario\u2019s justice system for more than 25 years.&nbsp;His expertise includes access to justice, law reform, technology and legal rights, and legal services for low-income communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Current projects include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/lco-cdo.org\/en\/projects\/ai-regulation-and-human-rights\/\" title=\"AI Regulation and Human Rights\">AI Regulation and Human Rights<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/lco-cdo.org\/en\/projects\/ai-in-criminal-justice\/\" data-type=\"project\" data-id=\"645\">AI in Criminal Justice<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/lco-cdo.org\/en\/projects\/protection-orders\/\" data-type=\"project\" data-id=\"648\">Protection Orders<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/lco-cdo.org\/en\/projects\/workplace-surveillance\/\">Workplace Surveillance<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/lco-cdo.org\/en\/projects\/intimate-images-and-deepfakes\/\">Intimate Images and Deepfakes<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>His earlier LCO work includes projects addressing consumer protection, environmental accountability, defamation, consent and capacity, and class actions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Before joining the LCO, Nye was Director General, Policy at Legal Aid Ontario (LAO) where he was responsible for policy and planning at one of the world\u2019s largest legal aid plans. Nye\u2019s work at LAO included leading the most significant expansion of legal aid financial eligibility, client service strategies, tariff reform, client needs assessments, and panel standards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nye has also been Policy Director on major provincial inquiries, including the Ipperwash Inquiry.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nye is currently a member of the Law Society of Ontario\u2019s Access to Innovation Committee and Action Group on Access to Justice. As Executive Officer, Laura is the primary contact and liaison for communications between the ED and the LCO\u2019s stakeholders, and manages the day-to-day operations of the LCO. As Secretary to the Board of Governors, Laura works closely with the LCO\u2019s Board and its Committees, and is responsible for its operational and administrative functions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Upon her return from studying and working in Europe, Laura gained valuable work experience in both the private and public sector. As the LCO\u2019s Project and Web Coordinator, Taylor is primarily responsible for managing project delivery of LCO initiatives. Taylor maintains digital communications, the LCO website, and supports project research. He is experienced in teaching, litigating, and leading community and corporate social justice initiatives as a Toronto-based lawyer experienced in human rights, technology law, administrative law, and health law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ryan previously served as policy counsel leading Legal Aid Ontario\u2019s province-wide Mental Health Strategy, and as legal counsel to Ontario\u2019s Psychiatric Patient Advocate Office. He also served as a member of the Toronto Police Services Board Mental Health Sub-Committee and co-chair leading the Police Record Check Coalition. She spent the last twelve years practising litigation: first in regulatory law at a large communications company, and then in civil defence and administrative law at a boutique litigation firm. Over the past few years, she has developed a business focused on social justice, in particular in the areas of harassment, discrimination and violence, including domestic violence. Her work has spanned training, mediation in workplaces, universities, and communities, as well as legal work in family law, mainly in the public and non-profit sectors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since 2022, they are a part-time commissioner at the Canadian Human Rights Commission. From 2018 to 2020, they were a part-time member of the Criminal Injuries Compensation Board of Ontario. He has extensive experience building global networks of experts to enhance engagement with researchers and practitioners drawn from government, academia, industry and civil society. He recently concluded a significant research effort that focused on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cigionline.org\/activities\/reimagining-canadian-national-security-strategy\/\">Reimagining a Canadian National Security Strategy<\/a>. This project was unprecedented in scale and scope in Canada. Her early experiences canoeing the remote lakes and rivers of northern Ontario, Quebec, and Manitoba fostered a deep connection to the outdoors and shaped her commitment to community, leadership, and land-based learning. She completed the Adventure Guide Program and a Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies at Thompson Rivers University, and later earned a Master of Arts in Adult Education and Community Engagement from the University of Victoria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Before beginning law school at Bora Laskin Faculty of Law, Emily built a career in outdoor education, leadership, and social justice advocacy, working as a wilderness guide, risk manager, and frontline crisis worker supporting survivors of sexual assault. Her experiences navigating questions of safety, accountability, and access to support continue to inform her legal education and professional goals. Before attending Queen&#8217;s Law, Cassandra earned a Bachelor of Arts Honours in Law and Political Science and a Master of Arts in International Affairs at Carleton University. During her graduate studies, she worked at the Public Health Agency of Canada and conducted a strategic foresight project with a team on the future of Canada for a federal government agency. A revised version of their project report later won the Canadian Association for Security and Intelligence Studies&#8217; 2025 Graduate Essay Prize.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In her first year of law school, Cassandra volunteered with Pro Bono Students Canada and participated in two non-credit moots. He holds a Master\u2019s degree in Global Affairs from University of Toronto, and has prior policy experience in supporting bilateral business and policy engagement between Canada and China. With a five-year experience at a national-level banking association, including contributions to Canada\u2019s regulatory reforms concerning financial crimes, privacy, cross-border payment, and consumer protection, Wilson has developed a strong interest in evidence-based research, legal policy development, and in improving access to justice and rights protection for individuals and communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At Osgoode, Wilson has been a frequent contributor to the <em>Obiter Dicta <\/em>student-run newspaper, publishing legal analyses that examined federal legislative proposals on anti-money laundering, privacy, and sanctions issues.
